My suggestion: start with the simplest, which is Ubuntu LTS with Windows 10 on dual-boot. If you still need Windows, then you can install it in a virtual machine on Linux with some distributions like Wine etc… No issues with Nvidia cards or AMD regarding pilots… Today Linux is a very mature OS… Last most of the tools and applications used in CG are running on Linux and are free with continuous upgrading by communities. On the other side you will need to ‘know’ more about how the system works, the use of the terminal, that is also existing in Windows but barely used… You will be more in control of your system for the whole. If you compile Blender on your system you get the most of it which is easy on Linux as the devs have setup a complete kit for compiling and the documentation with it. Now that I am retired but keep working in 3D, CG animations etc, I run Linux/Ubuntu on my machines. With Blender 2.79 we were using Linux on most of the stations. Then with 2.56 and after we did use it for side works and testing. On Linux since 2004, I was working in a studio where Unix was the OS and we did test and use more and more Linux for servers and utilities.
